On the first Wednesday of October seven Probus motorcyclists headed south down the old highway, enjoying a perfect cloudless day. We were reminded of why this was the last scheduled group ride for this year as those chilly morning breezes kept us perhaps more alert that we would have liked. By the time we reached our first stop at Cathedral Grove, a few of us who could have used another layer were thoroughly chilled.
After a pleasant walk through the old growth forest, we headed back to the Qualicum Airport to enjoy a fine lunch at Final Approach Cafe. The group included four former pilots so the venue supplied not only good food but a satisfying number of aircraft landing and departing.
Most of the motorcycles will soon be stored away for the season, so this will be the last report until spring.
