Probus Beer Appreciation Group – Seasonal Wrap‑Up

On Sunday afternoon, December 21st, convenors David and Diana welcomed the PROBUS Beer Appreciation Group into their home for a festive end‑of‑season celebration. They curated an impressive lineup of 11 seasonal and holiday‑themed beers, complemented by a hearty pot of homemade vegetarian chili and an array of snacks and desserts.
This gathering took a different approach from the group’s usual structured tastings. Instead of sampling beers one at a time, members were invited to explore all the selections at their own pace, each accompanied by a written description. The table quickly became the centre of activity as everyone crowded around, comparing notes, debating flavours, and discovering new favourites.
The beer selection showcased a wide spectrum of creative brews, including Chocolate and Vanilla Swirl, Gratitude Winter Ale, Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout, Eggnog Stout, Murchie’s London Fog, and several other equally distinctive offerings. Alcohol content ranged from a familiar 5% ABV to a bold 10.5% ABV stout, adding to the sense of adventure.
Although the event was advertised as a casual “come‑and‑go” afternoon, no one seemed eager to leave. The lively conversation, warm hospitality, and festive beer choices kept the group together right to the end—an enjoyable wrap‑up to another great year of camaraderie and beer appreciation.
