"Beat the Heat" hike... and a swim

Last Tuesday we did a “beat the heat” hike.  A small group of us set off from the Hawk parking lot down my “secret entrance” to the boardwalk and aimed for Helen MacKenzie. There we saw two brave women exiting the water after a swim.  They reported it as being brisk. We knew better and carried on to Battleship where my reputation was on the line as I had said that the temperature in that lake was fine. Thankfully it was.  After our swim we ate lunch and enjoyed the sun before heading back to the start.
