BAG goes to ACE

During the month of September, the BAG (Beer Appreciation Group) visited one of our local breweries. Ace Brewery is located in Courtenay, near the Whistlestop pub. It is a comfortable venue with both indoor and outdoor seating. Andy, the manager, walked us through 6 of their popular beers, explaining what makes each one different and how it is brewed. He threw in some beer history as we progressed through the tasting tour, and that added context. The 6 beers provided ranged from a classic light lager, a cream ale, a standard pilsner, a pale ale, to a hazy IPA and a full IPA. Each had its own character, and once again our PROBUS folk proved to have a variety of favourite beers.

Our tasting was accompanied by finger foods. Although nobody ordered dinner, from personal experience I can say that ACE has some of the best pub food in the valley. Over 30 of our BAG members were there, enjoying the ambience, the brews and each other's company.
